For the .Net people out there

Posted by at 9th October, 2007

This should have some interesting fallout – if nothing else it'll make getting into the lower levels and sorting out exactly why some of those mysterious things happen under the hood.

So a deposition

Posted by at 3rd October, 2007

Well that was rather novel – I did my first ever deposition this morning and it was a rather interesting experience. It all stems back to the days that I was at eNature and while on the way to work one morning I saw an accident (no biggie, just one driver being an idiot and causing two other cars to crash trying to avoid the 1st). As it turns out that accident and it's subsequent lawsuits from late '04 are still plodding along and I'm the main witness all around.

I get in there and it's a court stenographer and the council for the three sides and we go over the story again, just this time they all spend a good deal of time objecting to each others questions and debating the line between observation and inference.

But rather than being an hour late to work, it's more like two hours. But whee, I get my whole $35 witness fee. I wonder how much the three of them made in total for that same time.

They got enough that I expect they'll all wrestle it out and settle, but even if they do go to court, I'd doubt I'll go back in, I think they've got enough of it at this point to sort out the rest.

The year begins to wind down… whew.

Posted by at 2nd October, 2007

Actually at this point it’s pretty near – after another deason, there’s just one more faire to go (as far as ones that I need to care about running). After Shasta this weekend, there’s just Folsom to go (and that’s as GuildMaster and nada else, which will rock, cause I love having at least a few faires each year where I can focus just on the group and the people). Then there’s Kearney Park, but if I do go, it’ll just be light duty or visiting people.

So ok, between those is Ione, but that’s hardly much work on the ground, or even leading up to the event. I’ll be there to get them up and running, but then it looks like work is sending us off on a departmental reward/bonding trip to Vegas that Sunday-Tuesday.

When it comes down to it tho, after managing/producing/running on some level eight faires since March, I’m just fried, and am so looking forward to the quiet of the off season. Visiting people I’ve barely had time to catch up with at all (still owing Darne that dinnerfor how long?) Visiting Dickens, maybe even a Gaskell (ooh, there’s a thought).

Of course there’s the plotting and planning for next year to start mulling about, but until the new year, that’s just random emails and a few meetings. Well I might have to go to a meeting in SoCal on the 18th which could have interesting results.

Fingers crossed that I get to go to Stockholm again in November for work. It’s a bit closer to winter than I’d have liked, but ah well…

Christina’s Birthday Bash

Posted by at 1st October, 2007

It was a blast, and while I’m often not one for large social gatherings for long periods of time, this one was perhaps an example of my getting more used to them, or just more comfortable just hanging out. It was great to be around friends and just kick back.

It’s not been at all a bad week now that I think about it. Once I get through faire this upcoming weekend I’ll have to pester the guys about hopping into some Warhammer games…
