So a deposition

October 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Well that was rather novel - I did my first ever deposition this morning and it was a rather interesting experience. It all stems back to the days that I was at eNature and while on the way to work one morning I saw an accident (no biggie, just one driver being an idiot and causing two other cars to crash trying to avoid the 1st). As it turns out that accident and it's subsequent lawsuits from late '04 are still plodding along and I'm the main witness all around.

I get in there and it's a court stenographer and the council for the three sides and we go over the story again, just this time they all spend a good deal of time objecting to each others questions and debating the line between observation and inference.

But rather than being an hour late to work, it's more like two hours. But whee, I get my whole $35 witness fee. I wonder how much the three of them made in total for that same time.

They got enough that I expect they'll all wrestle it out and settle, but even if they do go to court, I'd doubt I'll go back in, I think they've got enough of it at this point to sort out the rest.
